On May 8, Chen Haoying, Deputy Director General of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Director General of Xiamen Conference and Exhibition Bureau, visited Xiamen Convention and Exhibition Association for an investigation and discussion.

After listening to President Zheng’s report at the meeting, Director General Chen conveyed the instructions and requirements of Huang Heming, director-general of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, on the development of Xiamen’s convention and exhibition industry. Chen fully affirmed the positive role played by Xiamen Convention and Exhibition Association in the development of Xiamen MICE industry and its achievements over the years, and proposed that the development of the industry needs the joint support of various forces. He also put forward some ideas in detail for the future development of Xiamen MICE industry from the aspects of mechanism and institutional innovation, the integration of exhibition and industry, giving full play to the role of industry associations, the construction of convention and exhibition big data, the construction of exhibition credit system, marketing at home and abroad, and the recovery of MICE industry in response to the epidemic. In the meantime, Chen raised specific instructions and expectations for the Association.

During the meeting, Zheng Zhi, president of the Xiamen Convention and Exhibition Association, comprehensively reported on various tasks of the Association and the measures taken since the epidemic prevention and control. In terms of the current situation, existing problems and countermeasures of Xiamen MICE industry, he put forward suggestions on promoting the development from the aspects of the business environment, innovation and development, research and development of new projects, marketing cooperation at home and abroad, personnel training, integrity construction, and intellectual property protection. He also said that the Association will bear in mind its purpose and mission, unite its members under the leadership of the competent department, act as a bridge and link, and serve as the staff of the competent government department and the mouthpiece of the enterprises.

Wang Weihuan, Deputy Director of the Convention and Exhibition Office of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and staffs of the Association Secretariat participated in the discussion.
