Lotus Flower Expo opens in Xiamen

The 12th lotus flower exhibition opened at the Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on June 19 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
This year's expo spans an area of about 60,000 square meters. It boasts diverse exhibits and a novel layout, aiming to offer visitors a great destination to escape the summer heat.
Centering around "a poetic floral feast full of fun", the exhibition comprises of six sections. The garden's streams, ponds, and buildings with white walls and black tiles are fully used to create vivid pictures of natural landscapes.
During this period, a series of cultural activities will be held, including a "lotus flower fairy" hanfu (a traditional Chinese costume) model competition, a photography contest, and performances featuring Chinese incense, tea, poetry, and fan culture.
The final and award ceremony for the model competition will be held at Jiangnanyuan at 15:00 on July 11.
The photography contest was launched on June 19 and welcomes people from all walks of life to submit their works until July 6.
The exhibition will run until July 18.
