International Symposium on Tsunami Warning and Storm Surge Prediction and Mitigation in the Asia-Pacific Region held in Xiamen

The International Symposium on Tsunami Warning and Storm Surge Prediction and Mitigation in the Asia-Pacific Region was held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian Province on November 7, 2024. 

As one of over 30 International Conferences of the 2024 East Asian Seas Congress and World Ocean Week in Xiamen, the event aims  to improve knowledge and understanding of tsunami warning and storm surge prediction. 

Hosted by the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center (NMEFC), Ministry of Natural Resources, the international symposium brought together ocean-related experts and practitioners to address the challenges of tsunami and storm surge disasters. 

During the symposium, nine scholars and experts were invited to share their research results and operational experiences, as well as to discuss problems of common interest and new developments for storm surges and tsunamis. 

"I hope that all participants will get valuable insights from this symposium, while improving the knowledge and understanding of tsunami warning and storm surge prediction," said Sun Lining, an official from the NMEFC.
