XM convention and exhibition industry thrived in 2024

The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs last week announced that the city hosted in 2024 through November a total of 166 exhibitions with a combined area of approximately 2.35 million square meters, up 14.5 percent year-on-year. The city also hosted 4,145 conferences with about 740,000 attendees, a 2.5 percent increase year-on-year. The activities generated an economic impact of approximately 28.7 billion yuan, up 10.6 percent year-on-year. During the recent China Exhibition City Industry Cooperation Conference in Chengdu, officials from the China Convention, Exhibition and Event Society released the 2023 results of its annual exhibition city competitiveness index. Xiamen's convention and exhibition industry ranked 10th nationwide in the most competitive exhibition city category, up two places over the prior year.
