The China pavilion at this year's World Expo in Osaka recently hosted an official Xiamen City Theme Day. This marks the first Xiamen-themed event at an overseas World Expo. The event included an eco-achievement exhibition, a cultural showcase and a Sino-Japanese friendship exchange exhibition.

The event also included a series of Xiamen-Japan economic, trade and tourism exchange meetings. Over a hundred guests attended. Government and business representatives from Xiamen met with representatives of Japanese sister cities, business associations and businesses. The meetings featured tourism promotion and business matchmaking sessions.

Participants announced three cooperation agreements, including a partnership between solar power firm BSL and Jimei to establish a smart energy R&D and production base.
