On March 20, 2026, the 5th Fifth Council Meeting and 5th Seventh General Membership Meeting of XMCEA were held at the W Xiamen. Aimed at forging industry consensus, stimulating innovative dynamism and driving the higher-quality development of Xiamen's MICE industry in the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the meeting called on all member units to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and all the plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the association urged all members to strengthen confidence, forge ahead hand in hand and contribute to building Xiamen into an international renowned MICE city.

The general membership meeting was presided over by Chen Liling, the newly appointed Vice President of the association. Nearly 350 representatives, including officials from Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce (Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition), Xiamen MICE Industry Promotion Agency, Siming District Bureau of Commerce, Jimei District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Haicang District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Xiang'an District Bureau of Science, Technology, Industry and Information Technology and Commerce, as well as representatives of member units of the municipal MICE association, attended the grand event.

President Chen Lisheng first extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the attending leaders, distinguished guests and member representatives. In his 2025 Annual Work Report of XMCEA, he comprehensively reviewed the positive achievements made by the association over the past year in Party building guidance, market monitoring, project evaluation, brand building, publicity and promotion, talent cultivation, international exchanges and other aspects.

President Chen pointed out that in 2025, the association had continued to make great efforts in serving the government, the industry and its members. It successfully hosted the 8th Xiamen MICE Week and organized the China Xiamen MICE Supply Chain Expo, promoted the construction of industry standardization and integrity systems, and boosted the high-quality development of Xiamen's MICE industry. Looking ahead to 2026, the association will continue to take Party building as the guide, deepen industry research, optimize the business environment, build well-known MICE platforms, improve the service capacity of the Secretariat, and strive to open a new chapter in MICE work.

Director Yu Hao, in his speech, conducted an in-depth analysis of the current situation and challenges faced by the domestic and international MICE industry. He noted that Xiamen's MICE industry had maintained resilience and vitality in a complex environment in 2025, yet it also faced pressures of structural adjustment. Director Yu put forward the development concept of "Embrace the Future", emphasizing that Xiamen should identify its differentiated positioning and build itself into a "China's regional MICE central city with several world-renowned exhibitions". He encouraged all MICE enterprises in the city to strengthen confidence, take the initiative to seek changes, seize the new opportunities of digital transformation and green and low-carbon development, and gain a first-mover advantage in the fierce market competition. Director Yu stated that government departments would continue to optimize the MICE business environment, improve the policy system, build a closer industrial ecosystem, and provide strong support for enterprise development. He called on all MICE practitioners to unite as one, drive development through innovation, win the future with high quality, and jointly propel Xiamen's MICE industry to new heights.

Xie Yanting, Secretary-General of XMCEA, delivered the 2025 Annual Financial Revenue and Expenditure Report of Xiamen MICE Industry Association to the meeting. Zheng Huiqiong, Deputy Secretary-General of XMCEA, read out the Notice on the Accreditation of the Grades of Xiamen Conference Hotels in 2025. Chen Xiaofang, Deputy Secretary-General of XMCEA, read out the Decision on Commending the Advanced Units of 2025.

The conference also held a grand awarding ceremony for the units honored as "Xiamen Conference Hotels 2025" and "Advanced Units of 2025", with warm applause and a lively atmosphere on site.

On the same day, the 5th Fifth Council Meeting of XMCEA was also held at the W Xiamen, under the supervision of the Board of Supervisors. Presided over by President Chen Lisheng, the meeting was attended by representatives from 63 council member units. It examined and approved the Decision on Commending the Advanced Units of 2025 of XMCEA, the list of adjustments to vice presidents and council members, the information on new and resigned members, as well as relevant strategic resolutions on the association's work. The council fully affirmed the association's work achievements over the past year and stressed the need to continue to play the role of a bridge and link, promoting the integration of industry resources and coordinated development.
