Global design forces strike a chord at Xiamen Design and Art Week

Xiamen Design and Art Week 2026 opened at the Xiamen Art Museum on April 25. Under the theme "Harmony in Design: Shaping a Sustainable Future", the event brings together global design forces to foster dialogues between the city, ecology, aesthetics, technology, and the humanities.
As a core highlight, the Xiamen Design and Art Exhibition is being held concurrently at the Xiamen Art Museum. The exhibition will run until May 20 and is free and open to the public. Featuring the largest participating lineup in the event's history, the exhibition brings together over 100 groups of fine works from 129 top designers and independent studios across 19 countries.
In addition to the exhibition, academic exchange is an important part of this year's art week. On April 25, a keynote forum discussed sustainability in design innovation, followed on April 26 by four academic events and the award ceremony of the 2025 Academy Award China Interior and Environmental Design Competition.
This year's art week will also launch a series of creative events. The "Resonance Field" Creative Market from May 1 to 3 will bring together works by university teachers and students as well as intangible cultural heritage artisans, creating a relaxed, artistic urban gathering space.
The "Design and Art Journey" brand event has collaborated with over 50 institutions across the city to launch themed routes and design maps, allowing residents and visitors to explore Xiamen's design DNA as they wander through the city.
