This year’s China International Fair for Investment & Trade will for the first time include a match making event for health care informatics solution providers, aiming to facilitate greater growth in the sector.

The health care informatics is a multidisciplinary field involving information science, computer science, social science, behavioral science, and management science. It seeks to improve health care services by increasing efficiency, reducing costs and thus extending coverage.

A number of leading health information technology providers, researchers and representatives from investment agencies are expected to attend the event, which will take place on the opening day of CIFIT on Sept 8.

Projects selected to be presented at the event include those dealing with outpatient navigation, tumor detection and general health care, while several more projects are currently pending approval.

Xiamen has made headways in the bio-medicine and health care informatics sectors in recent years. A cluster of business ventures focusing on health care informatics solutions have chosen the city as the base for their future development.

The city will host the bio-medicine round of this year’s China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition in November, as well as Medinfo2017, or the 16th World Congress on Health and Medical Informatics, in Aug 2017.
