Chinese developer to showcase “Forest City” plan at CIFIT
2016/9/5

Hong Kong-based realty developer Country Garden will exhibit its groundbreaking Forest City  development project at the 19th CIFIT, which takes place in Xiamen, Fujian province on Sept 8-11.

Said to be the “model of future cities”, the  mixed-use project, which Country Garden will develop in collaboration with the Sultan of Johor-backed Esplanade Danga 88, will be located on four man-made islands in the Iskandar special development zone of Johor, Malaysia.

The development will minimize noise and air pollution by locating all its roads, flyovers and parking spaces underground, separated totally from the business, social, recreational and cultural facilities above. Rail transit will be the primary form of transport within the project area.

However, Forest City’s outstanding feature is surely its spectacular, eco-friendly design, with its landscaped gardens and high-rise buildings covered with lush plants.

Country Garden has invested in a range of display techniques, including VR devices, graphic designs, and mass-display and sand tables to make sure their CIFIT exhibit does justice to the design.

Once construction is complete, the four islands will be allocated to the development of various industries ranging from tourism and hospitality, medical services, education and training, to finance, e-commerce, advanced technology and green and intelligent development.

With its quick road connections to Singapore via the Tuas Second Link, the developers expect their 20-square-kilometer master plan to attract investors from both Malaysia and Singapore, as well as other countries.

The Forest City boasts quick transportation links with neighboring country Singapore.

For its creator Country Garden, one of China’s leading real estate developers, Forest City represents a key milestone in its international expansion.

The company, which has developed residential projects in more than 300 cities, used to focus primarily on developing luxury residences in suburban areas in China.

However, in recent years the Chinese company has started expanding globally, with its first overseas project being a housing complex in Malaysia in 2011.

After testing the waters of the realty sector in the country, Country Garden decided to commit itself to the development of its current undertaking, the Forest City project, which broke ground in 2013, according to a recent Forbes.com interview with the company’s founder Yeung Kwok Keung.
