Xiamen district attracts flood of new investment ahead of CIFIT
2016/9/5
Haicang district in Xiamen, Fujian province is set to launch 17 new business and industrial projects during the upcoming China International Fair for Investment and Trade, which will take place in the city on Sept 8-11. The clutch of new projects, which includes ventures in the bio-medicine, logistics, hospitality and tourism sectors, will bring a combined 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) of investment to Haicang, according to the district’s development and reform bureau. Among the projects set to be opened during the fair are a spate of bio-medicine projects, new branches of the Hilton and Marriott luxury hotel chains and a new Southeast Asia-themed tourism eco-park. The district has been a hotspot for foreign investment since the launch of Haicang Investment Zone in 1989. The area has been particularly attractive to investors from Taiwan, which is just 137 nautical miles from Xiamen, but the district is increasingly attracting investment from all over the world. |
