Xiamen district to become a magnet for investment at CIFIT
2016/9/6
Haicang district of Xiamen, Fujian province will become a magnet for investment, as more than 40 potential investors from China and abroad descend on the district during the China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) to be held from Sept 8 to 11. The investors will represent top companies and institutions from countries and regions such as Denmark, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, and more. They have been lured by Haicang’s preferential policies and favorable geographical location as a significant area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. A project manager of Danish Crown Group, Europe’s largest meat processing company, said that he has visited Haicang to investigate its investment environment many times and looks forward to reaching a cooperation deal with the district on the occasion of the CIFIT. Danish Crown plans to build an inspection and quarantine center, a food processing and packaging center, and a refrigerated warehouse in the district. According to an official at the Haicang commerce bureau, the district is expected to receive more than 60 Chinese and foreign investment projects in logistics, tourism, intelligent manufacturing, and finance during the fair. Many of them may worth over 1 billion yuan ($149.7 million). In addition, 17 large projects, totaling nearly 10 billion yuan, are currently under construction in the district, some of which are due to be completed during the fair. A local official said Haicang is working on creating a better business environment, as it plays an important role in attracting investment. |
