Xiamen FTZ aims to attract investment at CIFIT
2016/9/8

The free trade area in Xiamen, which is part of the greater Free

Trade Zone (FTZ) in Fujian province, will receive a total of 36 business

delegations from across the globe as they participate in the 19th CIFIT to take

place in the coastal city from Sept 8 11.

The FTZ administration will organize an event to introduce

investment opportunities deriving from the Belt and Road Initiative on Sept 9,

and the attendees will likely be witnessing the signing of a number of

agreements.

The Xiamen FTZ administration is looking to strike deals with the

Horgos economic development zone in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and the

accounting firm Deloitte.

The Horgos deal will enable comprehensive cooperation between the

two sides in the fields of finance, transportation, logistics and trade; whilst

the cooperation with Deloitte will involve the founding of a Deloitte

University, which will aim to train highly-skilled professionals.

More deals will be signed to facilitate the development of video

converting technology and the financial leasing of medical equipment, ships and

planes; and priority will be given to increasing employment among disabled

people in Xiamen.

According to Fujian Daily, the Xiamen FTZ is likely to sign a total

of 41 cooperative agreements during the 19th CIFIT, involving a combined

investment of 71.8 billion yuan  ($11

billion) in the areas of aeronautical maintenance, international trade,

professional services, education, health care, e-commerce, and fields related

to the Internet Plus initiative.
