Xiamen among China’s best cities for hosting exhibitions and conventions
2016/11/2
Xiamen is one of the best places in China to hold an exhibition or convention, China Convention Exhibition Event Society announced on Oct 21.

A team of judges from the CCEES ranked Chinese cities’ competitiveness as an event venue based on a number of metrics, including overall environment, standard of administrative services and visitors’ satisfaction levels.

The results were announced at the CCEES’ annual conference in Chengdu, with Xiamen among the ten most competitive cities alongside Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and others.

Yang Shaojing, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, received the honor on behalf of Xiamen city.

The award is a reflection of the great importance the Fujian province city has attached to growing its events industry in recent years.

Xiamen hosted 133 exhibitions during the first nine months of 2016 alone, a 23 percent increase year on year.

The city also hosted 47 international conferences, a year-on-year rise of 24 percent, during the same period.

Now, Xiamen aims to integrate the development of its conventions and exhibitions industry with its tourism sector to make the two industries even more competitive.

The two industries combined generated more than 100 billion yuan ($14.75 billion) in output value in the city in 2015.
