Experts set direction for intl investment fair

Experts share opinions on global investment and China’s economic development in 2017. Leading individuals offer advice to organizers of the China International Fair for Investment & Trade. [Photo/mofcom.gov.cn]
 
The organizing committee of the China International Fair for Investment & Trade and the China Society for World Trade Organization Studies gathered China’s top investment experts in Beijing to discuss how the CIFIT should position itself leading into the new economic year on Dec 28.
 
 
The CIFIT is annually held in Xiamen, Fujian province. It is sponsored by the Commerce Ministry and organized by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs. After 20 years of progress, it has grown to be the largest investment event in the world.
 
Cao Heping, an economics professor at Peking University, Li Baoping, an inspector of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and Wu Pin, deputy director of planning department at China Development Bank, elaborated on global investment trends, China’s economic development and the new challenges and opportunities the CIFIT will face in 2017.
 
Ye Wei and Yi Yang, two Commerce Ministry officials, also spoke at the meeting.
 
Yang Shaojing, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, introduced the 2017 CIFIT and International Investment Forum and sought to gain advice from the participants on the subject of setting the agenda for the IIF.
 
 
Important members of China Society for World Trade Organization Studies, including president Sun Zhenyu, vice presidents Hua Jianguo and Wang Cheng’an, and secretary-general Chen Peng, attended the meeting.
 
Sun presided over the meeting and offered a speech as a summary, saying that experts’ insightful inputs primed the organizers of the CIFIT due to be hosted in 2017.
