2017/6/27
More than 100 experts, scholars and business representatives in the field of environmental protection gathered in Xiamen Sea-viewResort last Thursday and shared their views on "Urban Remodeling and Waste Sorting".
During the forum, waste sorting was one of thehigh-frequency words. Mr. Yu Tengyao, the CEO of CTCI Foundation, said the development of a circular economy requires everyone's efforts. The key to waste sorting is for the public to form a habit of separating out their garbage. As far as he is concerned, Xiamen has achieved admirable results in cultivating public awareness of garbage classification.
However, waste sorting is only the first step towards developing a circular economy. The participants pointed out that between 30 to40% of garbage is recyclable. “We should make full use of technological innovations and the Internet, plus strategy, to take good advantage of waste resources,” they stressed.
At present, businessmen from both Xiamen and Taiwan arevery optimistic about the circular economy business model. Simultaneously,Green Maritime Silk Road Energy-Saving and the Environmental ProtectionEquity Investment Fund were also officially launched on the same day. The fund adopts the model of "Fund (a limited partnership system) plus a FundManagement Company”, and comprises a 3-year investment, 2-year management and 1year extension. The total size is 900 million yuan in the form of parent funds. It is going to build value-based investment as the core of its professionalequity investment funds to support Xiamen's circular economic projects.
It is reported that since the establishment of the Straits Forum, it is the first time that Taiwan and Xiamen to corporate in thefield of Cross-Strait recycling. It is not only an annual distinguished gathering and seminar on China's circular economy, but also one of the pragmatic exchange activities of the Straits Forum.
