The annual Cross-Strait Book Fair opened lastSaturday at the Art Museum of the Xiamen Culture and Art Center. The three-day event included the exhibition of more than 700,000 books and appearances by noted writers from the Chinese mainland and from Taiwan.

This book fair covered an exhibition area of 30,500 square meters and included two main venues, the Xiamen Culture and ArtCenter and the Xiamen International Book City. Other satellite venues included three bookstores, one each on Gulangyu and in Haicang and Jimei, as well as a distribution center in the Logistics Building of the International Book Company. More than 500 domestic and international publishers participated,including 300 Chinese mainland publishing houses.

The event included dozens of activities such as new book launches and an international illustrated book carnival as well as an audio book event for family fare. Other activities included a photography competition and moon-cake games.
