From July 6 to 7, the 2018 International Conference for Managing Asia Century (ICMAC) is scheduled to be held in Xiamen's Haicang District, according to the Xiamen Daily.

Organized by the Silk Road Countries Strategy (Xiamen) Research Center and the ICMAC organizing committee, the 2018 ICMAC will set up a main forum on "Linking One Belt One Road with Smart Biotech", as well as 6 supporting forums featuring "Smart Medicine & Medical Education", "Biotechnology Innovation" and other topics.

More than 500 industry experts and business elites from China and the ASEAN region are expected to take part in the conference, to discuss the opportunities presented by the Belt & Road Initiative for the biotechnology industry.

Since 2013, the ICMAC has been held every year in either Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia, and it is the first time that the event is being hosted in China.

"With the advantages of geographical location, investment environment and cultural foundation, Xiamen, one of the most important strategic points along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, is investing significantly in the field, developing major industry chains in biomedicine and health care. That is the reason why Xiamen was chosen to be the host city of 2018 ICMAC”, explained Huang Qingfeng, an official of the ICMAC organizing committee.

The 2018 ICMAC will focus on promoting overseas talent exchange and project matching, aiming to help the biotechnology industry thrive in Xiamen, Mr.Huang added.
